August Rush...

Now this was a tale completely drenched in
sentimentality.

It's the third movie I've watched this month. At this rate, I think I would soon become a freelance film reviewer or something...
Such films just can't go unsaid about.

That being the case, let me start off...

This is the story about a very gifted kid, named August Rush. He is sent, as a baby, to an orphanage center, where for 11 years of his life, he is made to believe that he does not 'belong' to anyone, anywhere.

August inherits a profound love for music from his parents, who are both talented musicians.

He then 'follows the music', which he believes will lead him in the path of destiny, to find his long lost parents.

You'd probably find the storyline very miracle-ish.
It's just a bit unrealistic for a kid, with no experience what-so-ever, to actually pick up a guitar and start playing like a pro.

But the story was very touching. And I really liked seeing August (Freddie Highmore), smile with content every time he played his music...not to mention the great soundtrack. Mark Mancina did a really good job with the score.

I would definitely recommend this to both movie and music lovers alike.

Here's the trailer for your reference:

this is anything but a great movie. and the music is recycled garbage/sucks ass. but the trailer's all right. and the kid too.

you're generalizing, i don't get it.

'recycled garbage'...did you mean all those tracks that were used in the movie? john legend, jonathan rhys meyers and all those improvisations?

i think the soundtrack lived up to the idea of the movie, music of all kinds, connecting all living beings.

...or by saying that the music sucked, did you actually mean you didn't like the fact that they 'remade' stuff?

mark mancina did two original tracks, handpicked a few and the rest were remixed. even though there wasn't much originality, i found the combination of tracks interesting.

all i'm saying is, concluding that the ENTIRE score sucked, is an exaggeration.
likewise, it's all in one's taste and opinion.

and, i don't watch many films on hbo. all they screen are junk versions of great movies.

i wasn't actually planning on watching in bruges, it was a random pick, i had no idea it would turn out so great.
but yea, i did get a dvd afterwards.

i know i'm no good at this thing yet, you're really far ahead, but i need some time to learn. so please, pleaseeee don't criticise too much of my stuff so soon la, show some pity. some constructive criticism? i really need all the help and advice i can get.
